Important Safety Information

Read entire sheet before operating this product.

Routinely inspect tarp and swing arms for broken or damaged parts.

  • DO NOT operate with repaired arms/castings. Repaired arms/castings could fail.
  • DO NOT operate if parts are broken or damaged. Broken or damaged parts may come loose unexpectedly and allow the arm to rotate with tremendous force. Secure parts and have repairs made IMMEDIATELY.
  • DO NOT operate if the swing arms fail to rotate freely under normal operation for any reason. Discontinue use until repairs or replacements can be made.
DO NOT operate when damaged.




Spring and arms are under extreme tension.
DO NOT stand in the path of damaged or broken or swing arms or tarp. They could come loose causing serious injury.

DO NOT unlock the clamps holding the anchor pipe before releasing the spring tension on the Sidekick 2. Unlocking the anchor pipe clamps can cause a rapid release of spring tension allowing arms to rotate with the anchor pipe and tarp coming off the trailer. Persons in the area could be hit with moving parts.

DO NOT unlock the roll stops holding the anchor pipe.




Keep all clothing clear of moving parts

Swing arms rotate under extreme spring tension. DO NOT operate while anyone is standing in the path of the arms.
DO NOT stand in the path of the front/rear swing arms or injury could occur.


Tarp MUST be fully covered or fully uncovered before driving. If not properly positioned. (covered or uncovered) damage could occur from overhead obstructions.

Tarp MUST be fully uncovered before driving.



TIPPING HAZARD: Open tarp before dumping.
DO NOT dump with a closed tarp.
Dumping with the tarp in a closed position can cause the trailer to tip.

DO NOT dump while covered. Trailer could tip over.



Electric Operation Instructions

NOT releasing the switch when the covered or uncovered position is reached may cause the motor to burn out.

SWITCH
Direction switch operates depending on how it is wired.

 

 

REMOTE OPERATION

To operate the remote, disable the safety lock out by pushing both buttons for 2 seconds.

NOTE: After 1 minute of not pushing a button on the remote the safety lock out is activated.

The swing arms rotate under extreme spring tension. Before making any repairs, see repair instructions “Properly Releasing Spring Tension” and properly release spring tension.

Take care repairing systems with broken or damaged parts, including the tarp. Broken or damaged parts could come loose unexpectedly and allow the swing arms to freely rotate with tremendous force. Secure broken or damaged parts until tarp is fully unrolled and repairs can be made.

DO NOT operate when damaged.




NEVER allow anyone to stand in the path of the arms when arms/tarp is damaged. Arms/tarp could come loose allowing the swing arm to freely rotate.

Repairs must only be made after proper instruction.

Maintenance Recommendations

Aero Industries recommends a weekly inspection of the following items:


Replace all worn or broken parts immediately.
Repairs must ONLY be made after proper instruction.
Minimal maintenance is required for the Sidekick 2. Individual usage and operating conditions will determine when to check the Sidekick 2.
  • Inspect Tarp for wear and tears.
  • Inspect Arms for damage (cracked, dented or bent).
  • Fasteners: Make sure that all mounting bolts and screws are in place and tight and that no parts are worn or damaged.
  • Bearings: Pull the shafts from side to side and in and out . If there is excessive play, replace the bearings. Lubricate as often as necessary with penetrating oil. DO NOT use an excessive amount of lubricant.
  • Springs: Examine springs for breakage or distortion. Apply a light coat of penetrating oil to tension springs as needed.
  • Chain: Check the chain tension, that links move smoothly, and make sure the master link is on. Lubricate the chain regularly with penetrating oil.
  • Electrical Connections: Check all the electrical connections and tighten any loose connections.
  • Safety Labels: Clean labels with soap and water. Replace if damaged and/or difficult to read.
