Aeroforce Easy Cover Repair Instructions

Repair Instructions

Properly Releasing Spring Tension

This repair instruction describes how to properly release the spring tension from the Easy Cover system when the tarp is fully covered and the cross arm is resting on the tailgate. See section below if Easy Cover system will not return to fully covered position.

Spring and arms are under extreme tension. Broken or damaged components could cause death or serious injury. Follow all instructions on releasing spring tension before making any repairs.

Check for overhead power lines.

Always check for overhead obstructions before covering and uncovering.

DO NOT operate under low hung power lines.

Be sure that your working platform is secure. Use OSHA approved ladders or scaffolding to work above ground level.

Always wear safety glasses.

Properly releasing spring tension when Easy Cover will not return to fully covered position.

This repair instruction describes how to properly release the spring tension from the Easy Cover system when the tarp is unable to reach the fully covered position.

Never stand near damaged arms/tarp. Always check to make sure that no one is at the rear of the box or in the immediate area while repairing. Arms could come loose allowing the arm to rotate to the rear with tremendous force.

Be sure that your working platform is secure. Use OSHA approved ladders or scaffolding to work above ground level.

Always wear safety glasses.

Swing Arm

If the swing-arm is damaged make sure the come-a-long is securely attached below the damaged area. There must NOT be any damage between the attachment point and the pivot point at the spring. Not doing this may result in the arm breaking and pivoting to the rear with extreme force.

Both swing-arms must be secured before removing the cross arm and tarp.

1)Remove the negative terminal from the battery (for electric units only).

2a)Secure one end of the come-along near tarp housing or end plates and the other end to the swing-arm below where the swing-arm is damaged.

2b)Secure one end of the come-along near tarp housing or end plates and the other end to the swing-arm below where the swing-arm is damaged.

3)Tighten each of the come-a-longs equally until the tarp is slack.

The come-a-longs are now retaining the force of the swing-arms and spring tension. Use great care and make sure you understand how to operate the come-along before adjusting.

4)Carefully remove the cross arm from the swing-arms and place the cross arm out of the way.

5)Slowly adjust the come-a-long on one side until the swing-arm is completely on the ground.

6)Slowly adjust the come-a-long on the other side until the swing-arm is completely on the ground.

7)The spring tension has been removed from the springs and each come-along can be safely removed.

8)Replace all damaged components and assure system is restored to factory original specifications.

9)Reconnect the negative battery terminal and test system for proper operation.
